Friday!
Last post for this week. I think I’m getting a template/format down for this. Really liking Substack as a writing platform. I hope y’all haven’t minded the move and my experimenting with formatting. The experimenting and learning from it will continue. See yesterday’s rant on the Scientific Method. I think it’s also a good way to approach life. I’m a weird freak though!
I’ll start with Schwarzie’s Section since he demands at least a weekly contribution. 😎

Da newestz sayin from Jannaz is “Schwarzie I know you think you can fly and are invincible, but, you need to be more careful! I am worried you’re going to hurt yourself!” So I attemptz to jumpz over bothz the end tablez wit lamp and odder stuffz and the sidez of da couch. Dis failed and I crashez. I okeyday doh. Da hoomanz all concernedz dat Iz injured myselfz. I iz finez! I iz Super Schwarzie! Den dey putz more treatz in my food bowlz and I eatz it all! Den I feelz veryz tiredz and sleepeez. I tinkz deez da calmin treetz dat da doggie doctor saiz for durin my heartz wormz treatmentz. Dis not fair!

We are not drugging Schwarzie! Once he starts his heart worm shot protocol later this month, he needs to remain calm and rest. I joked with the vet that he’d need to be sedated to do that. She explained it’s not total bed rest, but, he shouldn’t go from 0 to 100 in 1 second. Um, he does that in 1 millisecond now that he’s relaxed and gotten to know us. She recommended the calming treats that have a safe doggie dose of melatonin in them to help. I’ve used it myself when stressed to help with sleep. It is perfectly safe. We decided to try it back on Wednesday when psycho-poochie was in danger of hurting himself. We are not going to use them as a convenience only to protect him from himself when normal methods aren’t working.

76.8 with 98% humidity. No breeze and some clouds. The pool is 83. The forecast app says a high of 88 with only a 30% chance of rain (no lightening) at 1800.
Of course, possible pool weather when I’m way behind on this sign project.

Longtime football radio announcer Greg Papa has been battling leukemia for at least last football season until now. I remember him cause he was the Raiders radio and sometimes national broadcast tv announcer eons ago, the 1980s. Fuck the Raiders! ☮️💪🧡Mr Papa! I hope you get thru this and live a long, full, happy Raider free life!
His current employer, KNBR, laid him off recently. Per part of the paywalled article quoted in a comment, he was felt he could return doing his radio show from home like last year — working thru chemo. That’s fucking tough! I know it well. IMO, letting go someone who’s going thru cancer is cruel. He likely lost his medical coverage as part of this.
Employment tied healthcare doesn’t work. It originated in WW2 when companies were prohibited from raising salaries. So they started offering benefits to entice workers. Government should have never been dictating salaries in the first place! Now we have it, and as is tradition, we cargo cult along and put up with the massive administrative beast it created.
Taxpayer funded (I don’t like it when it’s termed free) healthcare should be a thing. I’m unsure if it belongs at the federal level though. That’s my longtime distrust of presidential admins and a doesn’t-represent-me Congress talking though. It’s a human right and part of what “promote the general welfare” in our Constitution’s Preamble means IMO.

The Supremes overturned his previous XO (Executive Order) on birthright citizenship in a win for sanity. He who cannot ever lose issued new ones yesterday (2026-08-06).
The first one once again attempts to disallow US citizenship for persons born here if the mother and father are not citizens or legal permanent residents.
The second one attempts to put further restrictions on visas for pregnant persons.

I missed this one back on Wednesday 2026-08-05. Better late than never.
Coast Citrus Distributors imported jalapeños from Mexico that were contaminated with salmonella. The importer received the peppers from a single grower in Mexico.
These were distributed to restaurants including Chipotle and QDOBA. Those 2 chains have replaced the supplier.
The FDA is still determining if these recalled jalapeños went to grocery stores. How long can it take? Contact the supplier and ask? If no straight answer, contact major grocery chains and find out if they use them?
States reporting infections traced to the peppers are: AL, AR, CA, CO, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, ND, NE, OH, OK, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI and WY.
FL isn’t on the list but I guess now I’m removing those when I order out texican. Soon, it’ll be an empty shell I fear. Or a box of air. Dammit we didn’t plant them this year since they were too fruitful last year. I like fresh jalapeños.

Fast-Tracking Military Cooperation with Columbia
Dammit it’s pay-walled. The new Columbian President, endorsed by peachy, takes office today. They have “sweeping plans to target drug traffickers” per the article summary that can be seen before the pay-wall pop up.
If this cooperation is anything like what’s going down in Ecuador, the civilians of Columbia are in trouble. 186 innocent civilian beings, at last lookup/count 2026-08-01, have lost their lives due to drug enforcement there. They were small farmers and their families targeted due to opposition to the Ecuadorian government and labeled as drug makers/traffickers.

ICE will release bodycam video footage only when it is seen to be in its “best interests” per policy. This comes along with their plans to take the next 2 months to equip officers with the bodycams that have been funded for over a year as part of the BBB.

So millions of our tax funds spent to do this and they’ll keep the footage behind closed doors. Well ofc, why would they release what these creeps are doing? I forsee many promo videos of them delivering food and flowers to favored beings.
There is something interesting in that policy though. “in which its agents cause death or serious injury”. Is that an admission? It’s certainly a well known fact! Not an alternative one though, fucking reality!

Cruz’s Comments
This was said in a Fox interview on Wednesday 2026-08-05. My understanding of the context was that it was in reference to progressive leaders becoming more prominent. Coincidentally, many of them are Muslim.
“They’re crazy enough, yes; they want to cancel Thanksgiving, they want to cancel Christmas. They want Sharia law, they hate Jews, they hate Christians, they hate capitalism, they hate America.”
Who’s said anything about canceling these holidays? I’ve not seen anything written or broadcast. I do see persons that follow other than Christian religions advocate for additional holidays. Nothing wrong with that.
There’s more hat-red leaking out of that statement than I’ve ever seen from any peeps I know of the religions it’s aimed at. My thought is Mr Cruz needs a mirror repair person. All of his are seriously malfunctioning!
Those with malfunctioning mirrors tend to be the most vocal about accusing others of hate and violence. Meanwhile, they’re out there leading it or enabling it!
The Blanche Confirmation
Sen’s Collins (ME) and Murkowski (AK) have loudly publicly stated they won’t vote for it. Based on the current Senate math, accounting for absences and assuming McConnell stays AWOL, he doesn’t have the votes.
Murkowski issued a long release complaining about the weaponization of the DOJ under Blanche’s interim role so far, the slushy fund, and demanding an AG that will act as a check on this admin.
I think that’s the bare minimum of qualification for the office and agree on the first 2 points. As long as it’s peachy’s slushy fund we’re bitchin about. Leave mine alone. I like slushies and solid-water cream!
Of course, one of Collins or Murkowski will probably quitely flip back after they negotiate some perk for themselves. That’s how it always goes.
